Planning a credential evaluation: organise the documents before you apply
A practical way to organise your academic records and questions before starting a credential evaluation.
Choose the purpose first
Begin with the organisation that will receive the evaluation. Ask which evaluation body and report type it accepts. WES provides Educational Credential Assessments for Canadian immigration, but that does not mean every academic or employment application needs the same report. Match the application purpose before starting.
Build an academic record list
Create a private list of your qualifications, awarding institutions, graduation years and the documents already in your possession. Record any differences in spelling between documents. Keep originals secure. Use this list to identify questions for your university and the evaluation provider rather than sending documents without checking requirements.
Separate your tasks from university tasks
Write down which steps you can complete yourself and which need the awarding institution. Ask the provider about its current country and credential requirements, accepted delivery method and reference-number instructions. Do not assume a scanned copy is sufficient, or that a process used by a friend applies to your qualification.
Track the process clearly
Use a simple tracker for each item: requested, received, sent and acknowledged. Add the request date and the organisation responsible for the next step. Keep copies of official acknowledgements. This makes a counselling conversation more useful because you can identify the exact stage that needs attention.
Ask for the right support
Sehaj's published services include transcript guidance, academic verification, document preparation and process tracking. Bring your qualification list and the receiving organisation's requirements to a consultation. An evaluation decision is made by the evaluation body; support helps you prepare and follow the process.
